Some say it was the Phoenicians BC, others speculate it was the Vikings who left 1000-year old inscriptions on Manana, while still others are convinced they are Indian petroglyphs. Another legend credits Rosebeleta, The Lobster Goddess, for the mysterious ciphers*. Whatever the truth may be, we’ve chosen to include these ancient Monhegan-Manana ciphers on the sides of our Lobster Goddess Ring. Lobster Goddess Ring 14K Yellow Gold X1612.....$485.00 Legend: For 10,000 years the Lobster Goddess Rosebeleta rules the land, carving the coast of Maine, sculpting its rocky headlands, deep bays and sandy beaches. On the morning of the last day Rosebeleta raised Monhegan, then at noon, Manana. Her work was done. In late afternoon she rested on the shore of Monhegan as the sun set in the ruby-red sky behind Manana, casting the deep and long shadows many would come to know some day**. Then just before midnight, beneath the full moon, she climbed Manana, signed her final creation and slipped into the sea forever. For all who have known and loved Monhegan and the snug harbor created by the presence of Manana we offer the Monhegan Island Lobster Goddess Ring. Subtle like a crest ring, awesomely comfortable. Wear it every day, wear it forever. *Copies of ciphers obtained from the records of the Monhegan Historical and Cultural Museum. Ciphers shown below. |

**Look closely at the photograph of Manana above. Do you see a rock wit the lobster claw shadow? Legend holds this is the claw of the Lobster Goddess Rosebeleta. |
