Beach Rose Bracelet

I talked with the son of the owner of the mine in Australia. He said the mining was simple; they used a bulldozer, and it was the finest location for chrysoprase anywhere in the world. I felt giddy because the gems were so magically beautiful, and I was certain we could make many beautiful pieces of jewelry with them.

When we got the stones back to Portland, we designed a sea rose cluster, two roses with five leaves. It became the link between the green gems. We fitted the bracelet with a toggle bar and ring catch. We made a bracelet and then called the company that mined the stones in Australia to get more. They had gone out of business. We searched the world for a new source of fine gem chrysoprase and could find no one. Then we did what we’ve done too often: we set our bracelet aside and forgot about it, disappointed that we’d lost the gem source.

In the new millennium, we are looking back, dusting off great ideas that are 10, 20, and 30 years old but were so awesome we can no longer ignore them, and offering you the opportunity to acquire them.
