Great Falls Maine
SparHawk Mint Green Teal
Maine Tourmaline & Diamond Ring
Perhaps the greatest city waterfall in Northern New England is Great Falls, between Auburn and Lewiston. In the spring it is a roaring monster of water cascading over granite rocks. I return each year and every spring to re-experience waterfall euphoria. It’s easy to get to, park the car at Great Falls Plaza and it’s a simple five minute walk on a tarred path to overlooks and benches.
The Twilight-cut is a barrelful of light. Light cascading, twinkling up and down the length of the gem, two big brilliant white diamonds grace the sides of the gem’s waterfall of light. They are the rainbows in the mist at the base of the falls. Spring runs eventually thin, and waterfalls quiet down. Our Great Falls Ring continues the flow of light and the waters of the Androscoggin rushing on, cascading down and on its way to the sea.
Live in L.A. (Lewiston Auburn). Great Falls is a natural choice for anyone living in these great twin cities. It’s also a great choice for anyone who loves waterfalls. Lewiston and Auburn are thinking of joining up and becoming one big city. I think they should name their new city Great Falls. Great Falls combines the best of both.
SparHawk mint-green-teal Maine Tourmaline is found in a corner of Poland, Maine flanked on either side by the city of Auburn. Note on this ring- we have just one Great Falls Ring. When we sell this, we will make another. Production time is about 12 weeks for this handmade ring design, if you’re considering a Great Falls ring deciding sooner is always better than later. If you’re the mayor of Great Falls…oops…Lewiston-Auburn, your wife should have this ring. Perhaps as these two great cities join up the first mayor will be a woman. This ring would make a great inaugural gift.
Notes on the Phenomena and Brilliance of the Twilight-Cut:
The Twilight-cut with wings is a cutting style Cross pioneered with the Eureka Blue Gem Find. Twilight-cut allows light to flow, to cascade up and down the length of the gem. It is a river of light when the river meets the rapids or cascades over the falls. Twilight gems produce a living light show that will entertain for decades to come.
The Most Significant Find of Tourmaline
Anywhere in the World is Happening in Maine
One of Maine’s most famous tourmaline mines laid fallow for nearly 100 years, then a young guy came along with faith and vision, bought the property, and began exploring for gems again, and as they say, “The rest is history”.
We are pleased to report the old gem mine is now producing SparHawk Mint Green Teal Tourmaline – the world’s newest tourmaline find and at the moment the most important tourmaline discovery in the world.
SparHawk Mint Green Teal Tourmaline is a rare color of green, the result of a unique chemistry of the rock in this part of Maine. This chemistry has created the brightest, most brilliant gemmy green tourmaline we’ve ever had the privilege to offer.
Since this new discovery, we’ve created an amazing collection of SparHawk tourmaline jewelry. This is an exciting time in Maine history. We show many of our SparHawk pieces of jewelry online. To see our complete SparHawk tourmaline collection visit our store in Portland, Maine.
