Spruce Island, Pearl & Emerald Bracelet

I’m a kid from Portland. Portland is a delight, but it’s not the “real” Maine. I’ve driven from Portland up the coast to explore. Like a tourist, I’ve explored our coast from the land, I’ve gone with camera and notebook. I’ve sat on shores and beaches in a state of wonder, looking at harbors and islands, and thought about the magic of these spruce-clad islands and their pure greenery.

I’ve taken mailboats, planes, helicopters, and lobster boats out to offshore islands. I’ve travelled by private boats, sail boats, even car ferries with my car to Maine islands. I’ve done this for 40 years and I know I will never see or know all of the “real” Maine.

I’ve talked with people from away. They have stars in their eyes and sense of pure passion for the places they have discovered here in Maine. I know that in my lifetime I will see some, but never see it all. This Spruce Island Bracelet captures only a small sliver of our true Maine. It certainly represents our coast, and more importantly our islands and their richness and natural greenery. It’s 14K yellow gold with a big pearl representing the sea.
