A Story About Blue Sapphire
I Will Never Forget
This is the treasure hunter in me. I heard this story about the building of a road through the Sri Lankan jungle. They started with a solid gravel base. The gravel pit was several miles away. The trucks came; they dumped. The grader operator smoothed.
Things proceeded naturally until at noon a truck driver dumped a load of gravel, got out of his truck for a cigarette break, and while leaning against his truck noticed a flash of blue on the new road. He picked it up and it was a sapphire crystal. A fine blue gem. Then he noticed another and then another. Other truck drivers noticed an excited man on his hands and knees picking stuff up. Even the grader operator climbed down and started picking up blue gems. In less than two hours the grader operator and truck drivers were gone and the Sri Lankan military guarded the road and secured the gem mine.
It’s now years later, we’re certain some of the blue sapphire gems we acquired during that period came from that road being built through the jungle. Stories like this come from countries where they mine gems. We still have sapphires from that period of time.
Today we’re showing one of our favorite blue sapphire rings. We don’t believe the sapphire came from the Sri Lankan road. There is now of absolutely knowing… But then again, maybe.
