I swore I’d stop building stone walls when I turned 65 and I would plant flowers. It’s now 12 years later and I still have more walls to build. I will finish just shy of 600 feet…maybe. There is something so deeply soul satisfying about stone and structure and form and shape. I love to watch the wall rise then filled to create a terrace. Do I need another sitting area? Not really. I can see morning light on the sea from all 12 of my sitting spots.

A good stone wall does provide the definition between wild, natural and groomed, green grass lawn. I wait for the return of spring. Nature does provide daisies and dandelions, lilacs and violets. Irises and Queen Anne’s lace and the bees seem content with those that I have named. The dozen flowers I’ve already planted will go unnamed because I’m too busy sculpting the land and not tending flowers to learn their names.

Yes, as the summer progresses the birds and bugs and bees will return to play their part and I can sit at one of the terraces with a glass of lemonade.

This necklace is magical, it’s a hexagon cell for holding honey. It measures 15mm from bee side to flat side, or 5/8 of an inch. The cell and bee are all 14K yellow gold with 29 tiny diamonds rimming the top of the cell and glittering on the bee. We’ve added an 18-inch chain which lands the bee and its honey cell two inches from your heart.
