Love the Rain, Blue Sapphire & Diamond Necklace

I love a good rainy day. Even as an adult I get caught at puddles and at the edge of ponds, compelled to watch the patter of rain. I watch the wave patterns as they echo out and overlap. I record in slow motion on my smart phone, everything, because it reveals so much. This is the raindrop before it hits the puddle. This is the jewelers imagination of this pure, free-falling wonder.

The diamonds are water magically dropping out of the sky. The diamonds are graduated little to big, then there is that big dollop of brilliant blue sapphire at the contact point, when and where it first touches planet Earth. The necklace is beautiful. This piece has an additional depth and dimension, first the diamonds are graduated from tiny at the top like raindrops high in the clouds – start out small and gain size as they fall. On our Love the Rain necklace the diamonds become bigger as they descend. Our weather moves from west to east, our sapphire is oriented west to east. Our Love the Rain necklace design is not flat, it arcs and curves with one wind-swept tail overlapping the other side. As raindrops fall, the air is not still and drops paths are curved as they approach the Earth. In some designs like this the chain is attached to the necklace…not good. Our chain flows freely through a hidden space behind the necklace. The shape of the piece is pure magic.  Its diamonds are in a gently flowing arc which curves and falls toward the Earth.
