Flower Garden Rainbow Sapphire Bracelet

  For a spring-summer gift I gave my girlfriend a riot of colored flowers. I had a garden which backed into a hill and was fronted with a stone wall, professionally cleared and fertilized. I took Nancy to the garden center and said you can have anything you want in flowers. We’ll fill up the pickup truck. Nancy loves flowers she was like a kid. We bought every color of the rainbow and brought them home and we planted everything. In 25 years I’d never seen Nancy happier.

 The garden looked awesome for three years we weeded and watered. The flowers were lush. The colors were amazing. Then we got lazy and nature taught us a lesson as to who is really in charge. Pause for one season and nature sweeps in and recaptures all the work you’ve put in. After year three, wild mustard grew in it and was beautiful. The yellow was spectacular, we admired it not realizing this was nature’s first volley for a complete takeover. I can report that nature won year 4 and after we held a white flag. If you’re a gardener, you know. If you’re not a serious gardener and you see a serious flower garden someone pours their heart and soul into it every year. The stone wall I built myself. It looks great the plants that grow there are all native varieties.

When I saw this bracelet I thought of Nancy’s flower garden and how the colors flowed through the base of the hill.  I thought about the joy of all the playful colors.
