Before the late 1960s, virtually every lobster buoy along the Maine coast was made from wood, usually cedar or pine. Lobstermen carved their own buoys and painted them in distinctive colors and patterns, creating a floating signature that identified their traps from across the water.

Over the years, most fishermen changed to foam buoys. They were lighter, easier to maintain, and required far less work. The old wooden buoys slowly disappeared from the working waterfront. Today, they are more likely to be found in antique shops, weathered barns, and old family collections.

Our silver buoys are fashioned after classic wooden buoys, recalling an earlier Maine coast—a time when the tools of the trade were shaped and painted by hand, and every buoy carried the unmistakable mark of the person who made it.

Jewelry must be returned to us in original condition, unused and unworn. Special orders made to a customer’s specifications are not returnable.
