When You Wear this Necklace
People Will Rave
I once saw a Madeira Citrine in this color. My mother received a Christmas gift from her dad, Lin Cross. Its color was called Madeira. I was four. I’ve never forgotten the gem. Its color has echoed in the back of my mind for 70 years. It has haunted me, beguiled me, and bewitched me forever. Here is my guarantee. This is the prettiest gem you will have ever seen. When you wear this necklace, people will rave.
Now to my second favorite part of this necklace…its Double Infinity design…eighteen links, bark textured, trailing off to the left and right. Double Infinity is good luck and good fortune forever and ever. And now get ready for the price. It’s $1,488—double infinity. The gem is big; it’s a 14 x 10mm cushion-cut Madeira Citrine, a brilliant golden color, weighing in at over five carats. It’s our biggest Atlantic citrine gem, set in all silver.
Why I Love This Necklace
It’s not often someone knows an exact date, 10, 20, 50 years, or, in this case – 70 years later, but I do. Seeing that gem on Christmas Eve in 1954 may have partially contributed to my becoming a jeweler and being able to write to you today. What I saw was beautiful, and the four-year-old knew it, too. Today, the 74-year-old is delighted to have the opportunity to share this gem color in a piece of jewelry with you that is every bit as beautiful as the Madeira citrine the four-year-old saw on Christmas Eve in 1954.
A Staffer’s Opinion
“Citrine is my birthstone. I’ve never had one…but a well-cut citrine is beautiful. I like the way light plays across the checkerboard top of this gem. I wear a lot of black. For evening wear, this would be dramatic, dazzlingly delightful. I would recommend it.” – Casey.
This is Playful Yet Serious:
The gem and necklace are fun and easy to wear anywhere. The serious part is that it’s a big gem at over five carats. You and anyone you meet can’t miss it. The color is awesome in this big size. It will glitter and shine in honey gold everywhere you go.
Serious Engineering:
You might think this necklace is easy to make. Truth, this citrine necklace is one of our most complicated pieces to engineer. Gem cutting involves hunting down big crystals of exactly the right color, cutting the gem to precisely the size that will fit, and then making the necklace. We only have part of the year when our partner can make this piece. Then comes gem setting – the big gem is set here in our Portland, Maine shop, competing with setting diamonds, sapphires, and tourmaline. Don’t wait! Because the necklace is beautiful, and it does take time.
It’s a Great Price:
It’s amazing to find a gem this size so superbly cut in a bracelet this well made for under $2,000.
Why We Love This Necklace
This is a big gem, a glowing sun. Over five carats of precious checkerboard-cut brilliance, warm, glowing brilliance. A warm necklace to welcome people in. Yes, people who will see. People who will notice. They can’t help but notice because of all that is happening in this necklace – the light, the color, the brilliance, all set against the rich Double Infinity design. The gem is center stage. The gem is the sun, and you are the star. Eighteen Double Infinity links surround, completing a full circle. The necklace measures 17 ¼” long and is all sterling silver white. The gem is the glowing sun. Wear black, no pattern. Wear navy, simple deep-blue, choose red or yellow – you will glow. And if you wear white, you are the southern belle attending a summer party at the plantation.
