I come from a family of compass lovers. My grandfather Cross had a dozen of them around his properties, set in stone, properly aligned. He always wanted to know where he was and the path home. He had a compass floating in clear liquid on the dashboard of his boat and a clear liquid compass near the rearview mirror of his car. He kept a very nice pocket compass on his key chain to always have directions near. I too have compass rose designs chiseled in stone on several patios.

I inherited one of my grandfather’s patio compass roses. It’s big, a foot and a half across. A fine jewelry compass rose is a better way to have this treasure.
