I Love a Good Compass
My grandfather Lin Cross loved compasses. He had a compass in both cars, a compass on his boat. He had a compass inlaid on two of his patios. He carried a small gold working compass on his key chain. He liked to know where he was and which way was home and always where north was. I’m not as compass deep as my grandfather. I have two compasses. One engraved into a granite slab on a patio. (I’m always surprised where south is even though I’ve looked at it a hundred times.) North is prominently marked. I also have a large 18-inch aluminum compass that I bought one summer while working in a aluminum foundry. Because it’s aluminum light I can easily move it around.
Why We Love This Compass
This is the best jewelry compass in the world. For years we carried a collection of compasses in both silver and gold. They were nice. We had a wide range of prices. Our partner George, who made them, retired. This compass is made by David. It’s better. It’s the best jewelry compass in the world. Each of the primary directions are marked. Each of the positions in between are marked. In between the marked positions are little diamonds and then more diamonds in the compass center. This is the best jewelry compass in the world and a great reminder about the importance of coming home.
