This is a moment of dawn.
When my kids were small, they were still good sports. Sunday was for a wild ride into the unknown. We had no destination and no time limit other than sundown. We would hit the road with nothing in mind other than pure discovery. With a full tank of gas and money for lunch, we were ready.
We did coastal; we did country; we did lakes and mountains. We visited shops. There was kid fine dining – McDonald’s or pizza. One Sunday, we came home with a 250-pound pumpkin that was so big that the trunk lid had to be roped down.
The pumpkin spent weeks wandering about the yard at night until it was carved as a jock-o-lantern. The seeds of the monster pumpkin were saved, dried, and planted the following year. One daughter still grows monster pumpkins.
This necklace represents our explorations on Sunday. A free-wheeling spirit of freedom and discovery. The gems: Atlantic Sunrise citrine is the sun, representing the start of a new day. The blue gem is Blue Sky topaz, representing possibility and good outcome.
