“One if by land, two if by sea”, the two lanterns lit in the Old North Church told America what we needed to know to begin the American Revolution. There are lantern earrings, two of them with America’s greatest gemstone, tourmaline. And yes, these two gems are SparHawk Mint-Green-Teal Maine Tourmaline and on April 18, 1775 they were in the ground in Maine, which at the time was still part of Massachusetts. Yes, you might call this lantern pair “Massachusetts tourmaline”. It was 45 years before tourmaline was to be discovered in the northern province, and 145 years before the crystal from which these two gems were cut could be discovered. A great pair of lantern earrings.
