The first of these remarkable bracelets is set with Persian turquoise, a stone quite different from the American turquoise most people recognize. Its color is softer, gentler and creamier, with a calm, almost cloudless appearance. It is free from the dark veining so often seen in turquoise mined in the American West.

The perfectly round, doughnut-shaped accents are natural black onyx. We had them specially cut in Germany by a lapidary company known for this kind of work. The bracelets’ gold parts were made in America, and all the individual parts were carefully brought together and assembled here in our shop at Cross.

Earlier this year, we rediscovered both bracelets

in our archival vault

The bracelets were, every bit as lovely and unusual as we remembered: creamy turquoise, German-cut onyx doughnuts and American craftsmanship, all joined together at Cross in a design from another time.

We could have returned them to the safe, but that somehow seemed wrong. Jewelry this beautiful was meant to be worn, admired and passed along not hidden behind a heavy steel door.

So, after decades in the dark, these two one-of-a-kind bracelets have finally found their moment. Today, we are bringing them into the light and offering them exclusively to our email friends.

Once they are gone, this chapter of the Cross story goes with them.
