Viking Short Boat Green World Tourmaline & Diamond Necklace

As I approached 65, they knew I was in their demographic, and they started sending catalogs. I studied them, loved their boats, loved their philosophy, “Destination focused and culturally enriching”. A viking European river cruise. A new city every morning. Land and city deep dive: food, culture, wine, short strolls through the city. Lunch overlooking the river. A cabin with a porch. Interesting and fun fellow travelers, great conversations. I brought it up to Nancy on at least a dozen occasions and she countered with the grand tour by motorcar, me as driver, with freedom of the open road.

We settled on a trip to Conway, NH and a trip to Mount Desert, Maine, and the Black Point Inn in Scarborough, Maine. All were a delight. I still longed for Viking.
Then, 2020 arrived and Europe won’t let Americans in due to our errant behavior. Nancy invited me apple picking at a new orchard. We’ve been planting gardens and working on projects around the house.

I saw this piece and instantly I was on a Viking Long boat cruising on the Danube on a two week tour from Amsterdam to Budapest. This is my lamented Long boat grand tour.

I suspect you have been. I suspect you intend to go. When you go, Nancy and I will be in the Veranda Suite next door. – R.H.P.
