Private Ski Tow
Private Ice Skating Rink
I’m going to paint an idyllic picture of a private ski tow. I grew up on a 40-acre farm 20 miles outside of Portland. Our fields were open and, in the winter, were covered in white snow. We had hills and a stream that ran through the property. On one of the hills, my younger brother built a ski rope tow powered by an old Ford. He designed, engineered, and built the whole thing. He also built a chalet at the top of the hill with music powered by the Ford. It was 100 yards from our farmhouse. Truth, I was jealous of him because the kid was brilliant.
At the bottom of the hill, I built a dam and had an ice skating rink. In the summer, we kept boats there. Truth, Craig’s ski rope tow won hands down. Our family learned to ski, and on weekends, our private ski slope drew dozens of friends. With ski slope music, it was a popular winter spot. January and February, we celebrated ice and snow.

Our aquamarine pastel blue crystals were found at one site in Vietnam. The crystals are all different yet, similar in size. The crystals are untouched and natural. Each one is pure magic. We have an American who does the silver work. We call his designs “Fierce Winds Winter Blizzard Swirls”.

Snow flakes have six sides. Aquamarine crystals have six sides. An aquamarine crystal is the perfect stand-in for winter.
