This is our “A Cottage by the Sea” ring. This is the wild surf, visitors to Maine rarely see because our summer seas are almost always tame. July, August, summer sun, sea breezes equal calm seas. A chance of surf from a passing hurricane 100 miles out to sea, rarely, rarely ever happens during the summer.
Our family has a cottage on a white sand beach here in Maine. We also have a 100-year-old cottage on Maine’s rock cliff coastline. This is a video shot this spring in April when no one from New York is ever around. The waves are at Crystal Cove, Cape Elizabeth, a thousand feet from Portland Headlight. It’s called Crystal Cove because gemmy quartz crystals are found there.
