An Engineer’s Serious Wedding Ring

This is a wedding ring for one man.

It is four-sided. Slightly rounded. Precisely squared. Inside, it is threaded—cut to American standards—because this ring was designed with exactness in mind. There is no tolerance for “close enough.” It is a size 10, and it must fit perfectly.

When we made it, we asked our jeweler to thread the interior intentionally. Because of that threading, there is no karat stamp or trademark inside. The ring is 14K yellow gold, solid and substantial.

It weighs 13.2 grams.

Here’s where it gets interesting: this ring can stand on its own on any of its four sides—and it can spin on a tabletop. It’s the only wedding ring we know that can do that.

Most men with a 10 finger won’t need to thread it on at all; it slips on easily. On a hot day, when your finger is a bit fuller, a gentle clockwise twist helps it slide into place.

This is not a ring that adapts to you. You adapt to it.

If you gain weight, you take it off and put it away. Five years later, when you’re back to your original size, you put it on again. If your finger is a 9½ or a 12, this ring is not for you. We cannot—and will not—make another one.
