Stylishly simple sums up the Camden Harbor ring. The width of the band is goldilocks perfect, not too wide, not too narrow…just right. Fourteen full-cut diamonds travel halfway down each side and the diamonds are secured with four-prongs each in “French V” style setting.
Like all the rings in our Snug Harbor Collection, nearly any straight wedding ring will sit flush and look great with the Camden Harbor engagement ring.
Camden the ring is named after Camden harbor in Maine, a picturesque anchorage and town along the mid coast. Mount Battie overlooks the harbor and rewards hikers (or for the less adventurous one can drive to the top) with one of the most scenic views along the eastern seaboard. If you’ve ever been you know why it’s one of the most visited destinations along Maine’s coast and if you haven’t been it’s time to plan a trip!
About the Snug Harbor Collection – These diamond rings have been specifically designed to allow for a close, flush, snug fit between the engagement ring and the wedding ring.

Good – This grade is typical of the most brilliant diamond you’ll find at any jeweler USA or .com site. It’s bright, sparkly, and performs well. It faces up white, and has internal characteristics that are below the threshold of being visible to the naked eye. Grades – Cut: Cross Standard Ideal, Color: J, Clarity: SI2.
Better – These are bright white and have extraordinary brilliance. The better brilliance is achieved through tighter diamond proportions. These diamonds are harder to find, but they are worth it. The color and clarity are both one grade higher than our Good diamonds. This is the category chosen by Cross customers 65% of the time. Internal characteristics can only be seen under a microscope. Grades – Cut: Cross Royal Ideal, Color: I, Clarity: SI1.
Best – These are the best of the best and rare. Absolute colorlessness gives these diamonds an extra kick of brightness, and when combined with the top level of cutting perfection the result is a diamond that is guaranteed to take her breath away. Internal characteristics microscopic. Grades – Cut: Cross Royal Ideal Triple X, Color: E, Clarity: VS2.

How well a diamond is set and secured is often overlooked by engagement ring shoppers. The quality of setting is not obvious at first glance, and can really only be seen under a microscope.
The quality of the diamond setting plays an essential role in the safety, security, and enjoyment of a ring for decades. How well a diamond is set can mean the difference between a ring that spends a month a year in a repair shop to tighten/re-secure, a ring that keeps snagging on fabrics, or even a lost gem, versus a ring that can be worn and enjoyed for years with minimal upkeep.
All center diamonds at Cross are set by one of Cross’s own jewelers. The Cross standard for diamond setting has remained the same for over 100 years. The reason is simple: there is just one right way to set a diamond securely in a prong-set ring.
A prong should have an angle cut into it which provides a secure seat on which the diamond evenly rests.
The prong should be drawn securely down over the top edge of the diamond to rest flat and secure over the surface of the gem.
The heel of the prong should be thick enough to provide structural strength for years of wear.
The prong should have a smooth, rounding polished surface.
All the above factors are important because when a diamond is set properly it looks its best and is as safe as it can possibly be.
We do recommend a professional clean and check for all jewelry at least once per year. Clean and check is always free at Cross and takes just a few minutes.
What to Avoid
in Poorly-Set Jewelry
We see poorly set gems every day from jewelry that is brought in for cleaning or repair. Shown below are common examples of improperly set diamonds.
The Cross Craftsmanship Difference
Our diamond setters are instructed to take the full measure of time to ensure each job is properly completed. When setting a diamond they work with a 20x power microscope because working under this level of magnification means the finished ring is the most beautiful and secure it can possible be.
