I wish there were a dozen dormant volcanic mountains like Mount Kilimanjaro. I wish they were spread all over the globe because the size of the mountain at 19,341 feet seems to have influenced the rock in that part of Africa and created two radically new gems. The one we are featuring today is blue-violet tanzanite. Kilimanjaro at 19,341 feet is three times higher than Maine’s Mount Washington at 6,288 feet.

I sat with Gary this morning for three hours. He’s been traumatized by tariffs. This piece was acquired pre-tariff. The blue of this tanzanite is a top-notch gem. He had one, only one. It’s among the finest blue tanzanites in the world. Could we make another? Absolutely not. Could he make another beautiful necklace at this price? Never.
