I’m Going to Share a Secret Tanzanite & Diamond Necklace

I’m going to share a secret I shouldn’t tell… I’m a jeweler. I’ve worked in fine jewelry for over 50 years. Blue sapphires are nice; we love them, but here is a secret: there is a gem called tanzanite found in only one location in the world—in East Africa at the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The blue of certain tanzanites can be equal to or exceed that of 90% of all blue sapphires out there.

One caution: sapphire is harder than tanzanite, which makes it better for rings and bracelets. A necklace like this tanzanite is perfect. You could wear it for 50 years and it will look like new.

Price: this is a big gem for this size, this quality. The blue portion is 1/3 of what a comparable blue sapphire would cost. Then consider tanzanite’s rarity, found only in this one place. It is exceedingly rare. Acquire this and you will dazzle everyone you meet. Even a jeweler will say this is a blue sapphire (I would say it’s a blue sapphire… I’d have to test it to be sure).

This necklace is beautiful. The tanzanite is sapphire-blue and weighs approximately 1.70 carat. The 24 brilliant round diamonds surrounding and in the articulated bail add approximately .31 ct. total diamond weight. The pendant and 18-inch chain are 14k yellow gold.
