Lady Captain’s Blue Topaz Ring

I remember the first week we introduced the Lady Captain’s Ring. It was set with a round diamond in yellow gold. I’d never seen anything like it. Women all week looked, pointed, and said, “That one. Can I see that one?” In that first week it didn’t even have a name. The name didn’t arrive until a month later when a woman pointed and said, “That one, with the captain’s bars.” From that day on it became the Lady Captain’s Ring.

The Lady Captain’s ring is a Cross classic and one of our signature designs loved for its eye-catching, double-horizontal, double-vertical pattern. The two parallel bars either side of center are captain’s bars. It’s a low profile, easy to wear ring.

This I Find Hard to Believe

For the first 10 years we only sold the Lady Captain’s Ring with a diamond in it. Then we woke up one day and realized this was the most popular ring design in the history of our store and it could hold rubies and sapphires, tourmaline and Atlantic Sunrise Citrine, amethyst, and blue topaz, sometimes we’re a little bit slow…me. Once we realized we could do gems other than diamonds, the sale of this ring really took off.

The gem is blue. The color of the sky. On an August afternoon, not a cloud in the sky. The air is warm…comfortable. The air is still. The earth is silent. The earth is waiting beneath its blue sky.

The color is light pastel blue- Sky Blue. Blue Sky, Robin’s egg blue, baby blue. Its light, open, airy- its a liquid blue.
