Lady Captain’s Bracelet

I grew up summers on the sea. We had a cottage, a dock, boats, sailboats, and a big motorboat. We rented out row boats for three summers. Here is a photograph from the summer of 1965. She wasn’t wearing the ring or bracelet we painted them on. I can tell you, though, being in the boat rental business for July and August was a great gig. Yes, there were challenges, like the guys who had never been fishing and rented, went out, and caught a boatload of sharks. Give someone the boat, oars, and life jacket, and put their name on the list with a start time, and then to see the look on their face an hour or two or three later as they pull into the dock handing you a line is priceless. Fishing or not, it was a grand adventure every time.
