Quick story. Maine Amethyst is found in multiple locations here in Maine. This mine was on the property of a music camp in Sweden, Maine. They were doing some earth-work moving rock and gravel, and accidentally opened the entrance to a Swiss cheese-like quartz maze laced with large plates with purple amethyst crystals covering one side of each plate.

They mined for two seasons, found more amethyst than they knew what to do with – 5,000 lbs. They cut gems and then cut more gems. This is one of the early Sweden amethysts.
