Moonstone is a gentle gem. It’s gentler than even a pearl. Moonstone is millions of years old. Moonstone is as soft as a baby and yet it’s hard like other gems. Moonstone is mysterious. It possesses layers of mystery that allow light to enter, melting light into softness like fog and allowing light to reflect through the top and as it does, the gem glows. The gem glows softly with light that seems to float above its surface. Rock it to the left, the soft light rolls across the surface almost defying what the eye expects. The soft white light hovers seemingly above the surface. We consider moonstone to be a contemplative gem. The mind relaxes in its presence. The heart calms. The soul knows this is a gem of serenity and magic.
Rare Moonstone
The finest moonstone was found in India and for 50+ years the mine was prolific. Moonstone flowed out all over the world. Then they reached the end and exquisite moonstones stopped. Truth: most gem discoveries are finite. There is a beginning and there is an end and when the end arrives everyone is surprised. Even jewelers have a hard time believing the end has arrived
We have five moonstone necklaces that shouldn’t exist in 2025. Three made in 14 karat white gold, the other two are made in 14 karat yellow gold. The moonstones were acquired 75 years ago from the mine in India. They were put in a box and slid to the back of a safe. They have remained there all these years. When they were rediscovered, they were recognized for their exquisite quality and were mounted brilliantly.
We have surrounded this moonstone with diamonds, blending the world’s most gentle gem with the world’s hardest gem. The effect is dazzling. This moonstone measures 12x10mm.The moonstone is surrounded with a halo of 22 diamonds weighing .44 carat.
