We look forward to summer – we anticipate, we prepare lawn mowers, we choose patio furniture, we think about parties. In our world of Maine summers, it starts around April 25th and run through to October 25th. It’s a nice six month sweep, with full sun and green lawns.
I have the added advantage of being adjacent to the sea. At the lower edge of the lawn I have a one acre fresh water marsh. It greens up quickly in the beginning of the season and sweeps its green out to the cliffs. At the cliff’s edge is a blue sea.
I go to the cliffs in the morning with my camera and cup of tea for a half hour of serenity to sit and watch the sun rise, to listen to the waves on the shore. This is my ritual and my welcome to a new day.
