The Heart of Africa, Pink-Red World Tourmaline & Diamond Necklace

So Deep, It’s Almost Red

From the deepest, darkest, most remote regions of Africa where zebras, giraffes, lions, and tigers roam, there was a find of tourmaline so red you could almost call it red…but of course we must take a step or two back and call it pink. Deep, rich, intense pink, a gem smoldering with heat, light, and intensity. A pink, a deep, saturated pink African tourmaline. Did we ever find this color in Maine? I wish, but no, nothing this pure, deep pink – so deep, it’s almost red, was ever found in Maine. The gem is a good size. It’s a pear shape weighing 1.77 carats, close to 9x7mm. At the top is a pear-shape loop of 11 little pave-set diamonds, which swings freely. All are set in 14K yellow gold and are suspended from an 18 inch chain which lands the necklace two inches from her heart.

The Cross Tourmaline Firewall. We sell Maine tourmaline exclusively, except when an exceptional World gem comes along. It may be a rare color, exceptional cutting, or a combination of the two. In either case, we clearly identify it’s non-Maine origin and document it on the tag, on the sales slip, and in its appraisal documentation. This is a 9.8×6.6mm pear-shaped pink-red tourmaline from Africa (not Maine).
