He bought a jewelry company. He had a small firm and bought a bigger firm, one of the finest in the world. Yes, it was ambitious of him. Yes, buying a bigger company was crazy. He was sharp, though, and he and the former owners settled on a price. They both did their due diligence. He wrote a check, and the team shook his hand and handed him the keys.

David spent the next several days exploring his acquisition. In the back of one of the safes, he found a big box of gems that had been acquired long ago. He opened the box and was astounded to find 5,000 carats of moonstone in a quality that no longer exists. This box of gems was almost worth what he paid for the new firm.

David kept his cool and started mounting pieces. Over several years, he used most of the smaller gems. Then, he started building bigger pieces with the choice rare, bigger gems. On April 8, 2026, with 500 carats of choice larger moonstones left, he started mounting his final collection.
