Revere Green Maine Tourmaline & Diamond Ring

Once, just once, I took the train from Portland to Boston. It was the week after Christmas. The air was dry, and it was comfortable. After I arrived, I walked the city. I’ve traveled to Boston a half-dozen times by bus, once by limo, and a hundred times by car, and only once by train. The temperatures were warm enough that in several places, roses were in bloom. As part of my day, I stopped at the Paul Revere House/Museum. Here was a jeweler–patriot plotting to overthrow the British and establish a new country.

I thought that day, as I toured his house, how complex just running a jewelry business is. His business making spoons, teapots, and jewelry, having kids, and scheming to overthrow the English, was more complicated than my life. I was impressed with all that Paul accomplished for his business and country

This three-gem ring is a classic design, traditionally called the Boston ring. We’ve gone deeper and built the ring ourselves, calling it Revere for Boston’s most illustrious citizen. We make this ring in our Portland, Maine shop. We have assembled and set it with a Maine tourmaline gem and two Ideal-cut diamonds. We make our Revere ring much better than the traditional Boston ring. Our gems are set close together and low to the finger to make the putting on and removal of winter gloves easier without risk of catching or snagging. Mrs. Revere would have appreciated that added convenience.

We make the Revere better and stronger than Paul ever could have made it. The shank, the part that goes around the finger, is built for 100 years of wear. The gems are set in white gold. In 1776, they hadn’t yet invented white gold; America would have to wait 142 years for white gold. White gold center heads resist wear and will double the life expectancy of a ring. The gems and diamonds not only look better set in white, they are safer, too.

With a house in the middle of North Boston, an artisan business, and 16 children, I can’t imagine how Paul dared to add overthrowing of the British Empire’s control of America to his list of things to do.

Green Maine Tourmaline

The green Maine tourmaline was found at Mt Mica in Paris, Maine. It’s a fine forest green-colored gem from America’s first gem discovery. This center gem in the Revere ring was cut by John B., who was part owner of the Mount Mica Mine for many years. John brings a lifetime of cutting excellence to the gem tourmaline from his mine.

Strict Royal Ideal

The diamonds in this Revere ring are strict Royal Ideal Cut for maximum brilliance and shine. Each diamond is high white, sub-microscopic clarity, and perfectly matched to one another. The diamonds provide important framing for the center tourmaline.
