Shooting Star Pearl & Diamond Earrings

We cleared the dishes from our first supper of the season in Maine. Quick, quick, then out the door to the spruce-lined path leading up to the clearing. At the end of the path, we emerge to view the vast star-filled Maine night sky. In a type of darkness that we could never see at home, we see thousands of tiny white stars twinkling above—more than we could ever imagine.

We lie on the soft grass and stare up at the sky. Suddenly a shooting star zips across the sea of tiny lights above us. We know we are lucky to be in this silent, beautiful place, and now our luck presents the magic of a shooting star as it dashes across the sky. We would make a wish, but it is as though our dreams have already come true because this is just our first night!

Why We Love These Earrings

Pearl is a magical gem formed beneath the sea. The oyster rolls the pearl round, layering on one smooth surface of pure white pearl on top of another. When all is done, in a year or two or three of pearl making, a pure white glowing pearl emerges. The pearl is the sky and our home. The diamond is a shooting star, and the sweep of gold is a delight to the eye that simply makes you want to look again and again.
