We know we’re lucky, because we get to play with real gold and exquisite gems. This is a new favorite and probably the only one ever to be made in the world exactly like this. The center is a forest-green Maine tourmaline in a rare size: 9 x 7mm. It’s a 1.43 carat bright, brilliant green. It was found at Mt Mica in Paris, Maine, 50 miles north of Portland. Then, there are four 3 mm round Maine amethysts found in Sweden, Maine, and fifteen natural earth-mined diamonds.
The necklace is beautiful. The gems glow authentically Maine. To make this piece required 35 years of collecting gems and an infinite amount of patience. The necklace mounting and 18-inch chain are 14-karat yellow gold.
This is both a rare combination of colors and a particularly choice collection of two gem species from Maine. The design is super. Could we make another? I doubt it. I say this often, I am envious of whoever acquires this because you will have a one-of-a-kind piece. The green and purple together are beautiful. The photo is good. Seeing the piece in person, it looks many times better…it’s pure magic.

The colors play well together. When we were designing this piece, we thought they might do well. Even we were surprised when the necklace was finished, how beautiful it looked. I wish we had more amethysts of this size to make another.

I wish, I wish, I wish we could make everything as magically beautiful as this necklace. Yes, we’ve made this design before, you’d think we’d get used to it, but we’re still bedazzled by its beauty. It’s so beautiful; every gem color we’ve ever done with this design dazzles. I will admit to being under the magic of a diamond spell. We design and feel compelled to sprinkle little diamonds into so many of the pieces we make. Many jewelers use little diamonds. In our opinion, most push little diamonds into designs. We allow diamonds to naturally flow into a design. We know the true purpose of little diamonds is to provide a Star Light, Star Bright background while enhancing the color of the natural gem in the center.
