Big news from Maine. On Tuesday May 17, 2016, a major meteor fireball was seen over the Western Mountains of Maine, and captured on video.

People will be out on the Appalachian Trail and fanning out into the surrounding woods, eyes open, looking for evidence of a fall.

The Maine Mineral & Gem Museum is offering a $20,000 reward for a one-kilogram-plus piece of the possible newly fallen Maine meteorite. We too might have an interest in a smaller verifiable piece. Our offer: $1,000 for an ounce.

This extra-terrestrial event just so happened to coincide with the completion of a new meteorite necklace called “Catching Spring Fire”. It has a meteorite from the Campo Del Cielo fall in Argentina combined with an oval earthly bright, brilliant, spring green peridot.
