Symbol of a Place You Love

Lobster, yes, it would be almost a mythical creature like a puffin or moose if only a few people had seen one. And yet, the Lobster isn’t mythical. In the gulf of Maine, we have billions and billions of lobsters, and after you, an out-of-stater crosses the border into Maine, lobster shops, lobster kitchens and lobster shacks are everywhere along our coast. Our docks are lined with lobster boats, our harbors and bays are dotted with colored buoys, and a million lobster traps cover the ocean floor. Yes, we are Maine and Lobster is king.

One of the big eternal questions is claw or tail. This is like the question republican or democrat. People have strong feelings. It’s like the question of real butter or Parkay (margarine). Again strong feelings. Here is what we know, the claw, the lobster claw, is a powerful symbol of Maine and the gulf of Maine. It’s a symbol of a place many would love to live and, for some, a place to retire someday.
