beyond, another voice hoots back. This is a breeding pair. Owls start early and normally remain together for life. The hootfest is a big deal, once the owl’s eggs are laid the pair quiet right down.

Big like an owl’s eye. Does this look like an owl’s nest? Probably not, I have not shinned up a January tree and tried to look at the nest, probably filled with small fluffy feathers. It’s probably soft in there. Warm, I doubt it. But then, there’s mom.

Our circle is big like the moon, silver reflecting on the winter snow. And yes, the circle is big like an owl’s eye, just one, winking. Owls are cuddly looking. Would you ever? Of course not! And yet mother owls are so nurturing.
